Running to Stand Still
2016-08-22 22:08You have to be strong, in this game.
I was rejected for three jobs today - including the one I interviewed for on Friday. That's good going, even by my standards. My focus at present is to get work of some kind in London, first. Longer-term, I'd like to get out - although I've not yet decided where.
I'd have preferred to do both at once, but the cost of commuting makes that unlikely for now. The only way I can get out of London and retain a council tenancy is likely to be with a job outside London. That's what'll give me a "connection" with the place and that's what they require to move you.
I have a better understanding now of why so many on Job-Seeker's Allowance simply give up and do the minimum, because on the worst days that's how I feel, too. Always being short of money and not having much by way of intellectual stimulation (because it costs money, for the most part, although libraries are free) is enough to drive anyone slowly mad.
